US BSE Case Mightn't Hit Australian Beef - CCA

AUSTRALIA - Beef exports from Australia mightn't be much affected by the discovery of a second case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or mad cow disease, in the U.S., Bill Bray, president of the Cattle Council of Australia said Monday. However, the reaction of consumers in Australia's three biggest beef export markets will be difficult to predict, he said. Australia is already exporting large quantities of beef to Japan, the U.S. and South Korea, with exports already limited by domestic production levels, he said.
