Farmer Wyn Evans was talking to Plaid Cymru local AM Elin Jones on an NFU visit to his farm at Nantbyr Uchaf Farm, Ystrad Meurig.

Mr Jones said: “The low returns in the dairy sector of farming, coupled with increasing on-farm costs and red tape continue to drive local people out of this industry.

“We’re grateful to Elin for coming out and meeting with us. It is essential that Assembly Members such as Elin keep up the pressure on the Minister over the whole issue of the Tir Mynydd budget as it is so vital to rural Wales. The Tir Mynydd payment I receive accounts for a significant proportion of my income and is essential in keeping farming families such as mine on the land, as well as helping to compensate for the day to day challenges of farming in the Less Favoured Areas.
