Producers under substantial financial pressure

Argentina milk production is forecast to fall over 2% in 2024 to 11.5 million tons, according to a recent USDA World Markets and Trade report for dairy.

This would mark the second consecutive year of declines and an acceleration from the previous year’s decline.

Producer margins have come under substantial pressure from currency devaluation, which has raised the cost of feed and imported inputs for producers.

These price increases are expected to curtail growth in output per cow in the coming year.
