Tyson takes BSE hit

Tyson Foods beat expectations for first-quarter earnings before a $61m charge to cover the effects of the discovery of "mad cow" disease in the US. The world's largest meat processor said domestic demand for beef remained strong, though business had been hit by the closure of export markets.
