Monday markets wrap up: Live cattle near limit-down on BSE worries

US - Following a late-Friday announcement by USDA of an "inconclusive" test result for bovine spongiform encephalopathy, most Chicago Mercantile Exchange live cattle futures prices opened Monday limit-down, bounced a bit with bargain hunting, then slid again into the close. Lean hogs reached a new contract high for December in part due to the uncertainty in cattle.
