N.C. doing good job on farm, animal ID system, officials say

NORTH CAROLINA - As the federal government works out details of a nationwide livestock identification system, North Carolina is well ahead on the issue compared to other states, agriculture officials say. The U.S. Agriculture Department's animal identification program set a July deadline for the first step of the program designed to better identify the origins of a disease outbreak.
