US to import Canadian beef again despite new BSE case

US - The confirmation of a second case of mad cow disease in Canada will not derail plans to reopen the United States border to Canadian beef, American officials said yesterday. Canada’s Food Inspection Agency said an older dairy cow from the province of Alberta has tested positive for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). The results confirmed preliminary tests last week.
