New BSE case unlikely to affect Canadian beef consumption

CANADA - Beef consumption in Canada is unlikely to be affected by the confirmation of a second case of mad cow disease, or BSE. That's according to assistant chief vet of Alberta, Gerald Howe. Mr Howe says the age of the infected animal has been revised to eight years of age, and an investigation into its history and feeding regime is underway. Meanwhile he doesn't think there'll be a negative consumer reaction.
