Vet: Feed ban should stop BSE
US - South Dakota state veterinarian Sam Holland says that the longer feed restrictions to prevent the spread of mad cow disease remain in effect in the U.S. and Canada, the less likely more mad cow cases will be found in either country.In 1997, the United States and Canada banned using cattle remains in cattle feed, considered the primary way bovine spongiform encephalopathy is spread. Until the ban, cattle remains in the form of meat and bone meal were often added to cattle feed.
