Experts Increase BSE Checks on Goats
UK - Experts today said there was no cause for public alarm over a report that a goat may have died from BSE. The Scottish animal died in 1990, when the BSE epidemic in cattle was at its height. At the time the cause of death was given as scrapie, a related disease that normally affects sheep. But new tests on a stored sample of tissue from the animal revealed traits similar to those from goats experimentally infected with BSE.Source: The Scotsman
