Japan to end US beef ban, summer
JAPAN - Japan's deputy consul-general said he expected his country to end its ban on U.S. beef by summer. Kenichi Kimiya said the U.S. and Japan were close to ending the standoff that began with the 2003 discovery of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly known as mad cow disease, in a Holstein in Washington state.
