New envoy urges Japan to resume US beef imports
US - The United States wants Japan to quickly resume beef imports from it, new U.S. ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer said on Monday. Japan was formerly the leading export market for U.S. beef but banned it in December 2003 after a case of mad cow disease was found in Washington state.Source: Reuters
