Irish Farm’s Beef Prices ‘Auger Well’ for Post-Quota Era

IRELAND – Average per head beef prices achieved by a County Limerick dairy and beef operation are a good signal for an industry without quotas.

Last year, the 150 fed cattle from Paul and Eileen Hannan’s averaged €1150 per head to Dawn Meats in Charleville and ABP in Rathkeale.

Finished animal comprise of bull calves from the 110 cow Holstein Friesian herd and stocks from the 60 Charolais cross Limousin suckler herd.

The Lisnalty herd sells milk to Kerry Co-op for sale by Dawn Dairies, which amounted to 1.2 million litres last year. Average cow yield is over 12,000 litres per year, over twice the national average.

July Open Day

The Hannans welcome the 2015 Irish Holstein Friesian Association (IHFA) National Open Day to their farm on Wednesday 8 July.

The open day was launched at a function on the Hannan farm on June 9 last.
