Change will stem from population expansion, more meat, poultry and seafood production and greater export opportunities.

Furthermore, consumers will be demanding more prepared food and smaller-sized portions, says reportlinker.

The report predicts flexible packaging growth to outpace rigid packaging. This means growth of pouches for deli meats and seafoods and high barrier film for case ready meats.

In terms of rigid packaging, more prepared meat in supermarkets will mean more plastic containers.

The report also expects strong demand for corrugated cardboard, the industry’s primary rigid container.
