The centre will be set up on a 200 acre plot in the colony vicinity.

“We have sent a proposal for setting up the centre that will look after old cows and bullocks in the Aarey Milk colony vicinity to the central government,” a source in Maharashtra state agriculture ministry told TheCattleSite.

“The centre will set up the state agriculture ministry and we have proposed an investment of $4.77 million, but we have yet to receive the confirmation from the central government," the source adds.

Maharashtra agriculture minister, Eknath Kadse has said after the ban on beef, the government will be faced with the problem of dealing with aged cattle.

Anyone can bring in their old cattle, injured cattle to the centre and live it, the centre will take care.

If the government authority finds any cattle wandering in the city, they too will be sent to this centre, the source stressed. The minister also said that Gokul Gram will be set up at Dapcheri where the dairy development department owns land.
