This takes the total of eligible plants to five.

Two plants can export ‘general’ dairy products, not just cheese.

Minister of agriculture Neri Geller described the announcement as a “new qualification” for dairy products.

He added: “This shows the confidence of the Russians with our products and the possibility to further expand the market.”

Of 62 beef establishments, 59 are currently exporting to Russia, along with 26 pork plants out of 29, according to a government press release.

Two plants are exporting horsemeat and 44 of 45 poultry plants are shipping to Russia.
