ECUADOR – Ecuador has recorded the first ever Holstein calf born conceived through artificial insemination.

The calf, born last week, is the first birth of more than 20 cows all inseminated via semen straws.
Using frozen semen means small and medium producers can improve their stock, breeding for positive characteristics, says the Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries.
Ministry officials have highlighted that producers meeting high standards of production can have access to artificial insemination procedures.
