Flow of French Cattle to Algeria Resumes
ALGERIA – Live French cattle imports into Algeria have recommenced after stabilization of a foot and mouth disease outbreak confirmed this summer.

Algerian authorities were forced to limit movement of cattle into the country last July, resuming a flow of livestock totalling 40,000 head in a typical year.
The ban, which largely affected the passage of dairy genetics from French farms, was lifted on 13 October.
French agriculture welcomed the announcement, saying it was an ‘excellent sign’ developing cooperation within livestock between the two nations.
A mass vaccination campaign quelled the disease with vaccines from France and across the EU.
