Seoul on Alert Over Second BSE Case in US

SOUTH KOREA - With its year-long efforts to persuade critics of its beef safety at risk of going down the drain, the U.S. government looks desperate to reduce setbacks in the Asian beef market after a second confirmed case of mad cow disease. As recent as a week ago, the Korean government was poised to remove an import ban on U.S. beef, and major Korean consumer groups, which have strongly doubted the quality of U.S. meat, seemed to take resumption of imports almost for granted.
