September Cuts Confirmed for First Milk Farmers

06 August 2014

UK – Farmer owned dairy cooperative First Milk has confirmed price reductions from 1 September.

The reductions have been caused by ‘volatile dairy markets’ and amount to a cut of 0.5 pence for manufacturing and 0.65 pence per litre for liquid.

Falling UK returns and commodity prices were blamed for the reductions by Sir Jim Paice, First Milk chairman, who said: "We have highlighted the falling global and European prices in our member communications over the last few months, and unfortunately at this stage there is no sign of a turnaround.

"We will continue to monitor returns closely and report back to members each month."
