New Foot and Mouth Outbreak Confirmed in China

CHINA – A small-holding in eastern China has been confirmed with foot and mouth disease (FMD) in cattle.

A total of 18 animals have been destroyed after six cases of FMD were identified in Zhoutang village in the Yingtan district of Jiangxi, reports the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

Control measures are being applied to the farm which was reported as infected on 18 April.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.
