OIE: Further FMD Cases Reported in Russia

RUSSIA - A foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak near the Russian border with China has been reported by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

There are a reported 83 cases of foot and mouth disease, from 118 susceptible cattle in the Ivanovskiy region at the Village of Cheremkhovo. This outbreak stems from outbreaks in Russia dating back to June 2013.

Measures have been put in place to stop the spread of foot and mouth including quarantines, movement restrictions, and disinfection of infected premises.

This disease outbreak is continuing to be monitored by Dr Evgeny Nepoklonov, Deputy Head at the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, in the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
