Norwegian Fodder Crisis Leads to Culling

31 July 2013

NORWAY – Forced culling is being practiced in parts of Norway where fodder shortages have reached critical levels.

A combination of floods at the beginning of the growing season and drought conditions throughout July has led to a 6.7 per cent increase in slaughtered cattle, reports the Norway Post.

Farmers will now buy fodder from areas of the country which have experienced normal growing conditions or import from Sweden at a premium.
