Costing US$ 70,000 the government funded tank is expected to directly benefit 45 families in the Cungapite Dairy Farmers Association and promote dairying to around 90 more.

The 2000 litre bulk cooling tank is joined by three modern milking stations, veterinary supplies, agricultural implements and artificial insemination equipment.

Luis Calle, President of the benefitting association said the influx of new equipment heralds an era of improved water and electricity utilities.

Market access is hoped to bring wealth to the community. Sales of raw milk, yoghurt, cheese and other delicacies are hoped to develop as the average daily production of 17,000 litres of milk can be expanded and temporarily stored.

The Cungapite Assocation is targeting the markets in the area, focusing on the city of Azogues.
