November Agricultural Exports Up on 2011

BRAZIL - Market results from the year so far show growth across agriculture with more pork, beef and corn being exported on the same period last year.

Exports of fresh beef and pork had good results in November. The two products combined sold $ 523.6 million. In 2011, the same month the figure was 496.4 million, representing an increase of 5.4 per cent.

Daily sales of pork increased by approximately 8 per cent compared to the same period last year. The volume of shipments also showed growth of 24.1 per cent. So far in 2012 daily sales of fresh beef have achieved growth in value and volume shipped about 5 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively over 2011 figures.

Another product that has achieved considerable increases was corn exports, which rose from U.S. $ 258.1 million in 2011 to $ 1 billion in 2012. The shipment volume increased from 907.4 million tonnes to 3.9 million tonnes in 2012.

The complete agribusiness trade balance will be released in the coming days by the Secretariat of Agribusiness International Relations, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), from the data of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).
