OIE: New Schmallenberg Virus Outbreak in Belgium
BELGIUM - A new outbreak of Schmallenberg virus was reported to the OIE by Dr Pierre Naassens, Directeur Santé des Animaux et Sécurité des Produits animaux/ CVO, Belgium.
The outbreak occurred at Sivry, Hainaut, on the 6 January.
The outbreak affected one of the 275 cattle susceptible and resulted in one death.
The source of the outbreak is still unknown but is thought to be due to the usual vectors (midges).
