OIE: Bluetongue Reported In Russia

RUSSIA - An outbreak of bluetongue has been reported to the OIE by Dr Nicolay Vlasov, CVO, Veterinary services, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Moscow, Russia.

There has been one outbreak of bluetongue reported to the OIE.

The outbreaked occured at Korshuny, Urgansky raion , SMOLENSKAYA OBLAST.

The outbreak effects a defined zone within the country.

So far, the outbreak has resulted in five cases in cattle, one case in goats and 16 cases in sheep. No deaths have been reported.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.

Control measures currently being applied include:

  • Quarantine
  • Zoning
  • Movement control inside the country
  • No vaccination
  • Screening
  • No treatment

Measures to be applied includes vaccination
