OIE: Lumpy Skin Disease Outbreaks Reported

GUINEA - An outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) has been reported to the OIE by Mr Daouda Bangoura, Chef de Division des Services Vétérinaires, Guinea.

There has been four outbreaks of LSD reported to the OIE, with the first outbreak confirmed on the 10/10/2011.

The outbreaks are as follows:

  • Bodié, DALABA - 13 case, no deaths.
  • Mombeya, Mombeya centre, DALABA - three cases, one death.
  • Darsalame, Thyioro, Kankalabé, DALABA - 22 cases, no deaths.
  • Fataco, Fataco, Fataco, TOUGUÉ - seven cases, two deaths

The outbreak effects a defined zone within the country.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.

Control measures currently being applied include:

  • Quarantine
  • Movement control inside the country
  • No vacination
  • Treatment of affected animals
