Bright Future For WWS Show Ring Superstars
UK - World Wide Sires UK (WWS UK) continues to dominate the show circuit after two of the UK’s largest shows saw fancy WWS show calves rise to the top of the class. The All-Britain Calf Show acted as a superb platform to showcase the future of the dairy industry and WWS once again came out on top.
Of the 149 calves qualified through club level to compete at the national event, almost 25 per cent were bred by WWS sires.
The most popular bull of the show was Gen-Mark Stmatic Sanchez, having the most number of entrants forward. He dominated the top 10 with nine calves receiving top placings by Judge, Mark Nutsford, Cheshire.
December-born class winner, Peak Atwood Lustre was a strong contender in the Championship for her length, femininity and silky-skinned dairy quality. This reflects the high quality show calves that Maple-downs-I G W Atwood is producing on the show circuit in Canada and America and just recently, at World Dairy Expo in Madison, USA, where Kingsway Atwood Delicate won the Summer Yearling class.
Plain-O Durham Ross sired five entries, with Woodcatt Ross Rosa taking second place in the February class and also qualifying for the overall Championship.
Prior to this, at the UK Dairy Event, Sanchez, Damion and Atwood fought off tough competition to take the top spots in the youngstock classes.
It was Sanchez daughter, Knowlesmere Sanchez Chancel, the stylish, black, January-born heifer that reigned supreme as judge, Marcus Mock, Germany made her Champion Calf.
