The German organisations BDM and ABL organised a demonstration to underline that it is important to strengthen the position of milk producers in the market. The proposal of some of the German Länder to raise the pooling limits proposed by the European Commission was, however, rejected.

Milk producers from Germany, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands vented their anger. They talked to Mr Reinholz, Minister of Agriculture from Thuringia and Under Secretary of State Mr Kloos and pointed out that the pooling of milk producers and the possibility to gain influence on the produced milk volume are indispensable to achieve fair prices for producers and consumers.

The BDM will also be present in Jena today. Pictures and further details will be published soon.
