Dairy Farmers to Thaw Winter Morale
UK - In the week ahead the UFU will host two Open Meetings for dairy farmers. The meetings have been arranged as dairy farmers prepare to face a very difficult winter with high costs and low returns.

The UFU will be joined at the Open Meetings by Dairy UK, local banks and the NI Grain Trade Association.
The meetings entitled the ‘Business of Dairying’ will be held on Wednesday evening, the 3rd December at the Dunadry Hotel, Templepatrick and on Thursday evening, the 4th December at the Loughry Campus, Cookstown.
UFU Deputy President John Thompson said; “The open meetings are needed because dairy farmers need as much information as possible to prepare for this winter. Morale in the industry is very low as the market is returning prices well below the cost of production. Obviously we are maintaining our campaign to get export refunds introduced but in the meantime we want to provide an information and discussion point for local dairy farmers”.
The meetings will be addressed by the UFU, local processors, representatives from the banking sector and the NI Grain Trade. UFU President Graham Furey will chair the two open meetings
