The closure follows a directive from the government, instituting a ban on meat in Entebbe after detection of the foot and mouth disease in the area.

The Assistant Commissioner Animal Resources, Dr Chris Lutebarika, said the disease was detected two weeks ago and a sanction to stop cattle movement was placed immediately. “We ordered zero movement of cattle to try and contain the disease that would have spread fast to Kampala and other places,” Dr Lutebarika said on Tuesday.
