Dairy Farmers Encouraged To Speak Up
AUSTRALIA - Australian Dairy Farmers Limited (ADF) is encouraging dairy farmers to participate in the forthcoming Dairy Australia Annual General Meeting (AGM)."The management of our levy funds is very important and we should demonstrate that we have a high level of interest and high expectations."
ADF president Allan Burgess
The AGM will be held in Melbourne on 30 November and ADF understands that many will be unable to attend in person.
State dairy farmer organisations presidents will be attending the meeting and we encourage dairy farmers to complete the proxy form and direct their state president on how to vote. In other words, dairy farmers can cast their vote, the way they want, via their state dairy farmer organisation president.
Members of Dairy Australia should have received their AGM papers in recent days, which included the proxy form. It should be completed, signed, mailed or faxed to Computershare as soon as possible, as it must be received by them at least 48 hours prior to the AGM (by 10.30 am AEDT on Wednesday, 28 November 2007).
ADF president Allan Burgess said he felt it was important that dairy farmers vote on the appointment of Dairy Australia directors and other AGM business.
"ADF is supporting amendments to the Dairy Australia Constitution that we believe will make the Dairy Australia voting system simpler, and provide for a more comprehensive consideration of farmer candidates for the Dairy Australia board," Mr Burgess said.
"The management of our levy funds is very important and we should demonstrate that we have a high level of interest and high expectations. Allocating proxy votes is one way to do this."
