US - Reno County farmer John Yoder is among many dairy farmers reporting a great year after milk prices have soared.

Yoder says the extra business has allowed him to take a family vacation and add pens for new cattle.

This comes after a bleak year when the price of milk dropped to unbearable lows after a drought hit, feed prices soared and fertilizer and fuel costs increased.

Researchers say increased international and domestic demand has helped increase wholesale prices.
A drought in Australia and tight summertime supplies have also led to higher prices.

Prices are topping $24 per hundredweight in Hutchinson but closer to $19 in western Kansas.
