A special permit was required to access the Thame Cattle Market |
The Thame Cattle Market opened on Thursday to allow animals that had already been sold to be collected.
Tight bio-security at the site was monitored by a veterinarian who ensured everything was disinfected.
Sheep farmer, John Honor, said the price was "quite a bit lower" but it was something they just had to accept.
A special licence was required for the delivery or collection of animals.
Scores of sheep and cows were loaded onto lorries, headed ultimately for the supermarket shelves.
Farmer Brian Goodenough said a ban on the movement of all animals was the right thing do.
