Dairy As Alternative For Ryots Mooted

INDIA - The State Government has decided to encourage dairy farming as the major alternative source of income to agriculture by setting up milk cooling centres in 32 mandal headquarters during the next two months to help farmers incurring losses due to scanty rainfall, Minister for Panchayat Raj J.C. Diwakar Reddy has said.

Speaking at the Independence Day celebrations here on Wednesday, the Minister said milk cooling centres would be set up with an estimated Rs. 8.27 crores.

As a supportive measure, 3,500 beneficiaries would be supplied 7,000 high-breed ‘jersey’ cows and ‘murra’ buffaloes under the Chief Minister and Prime Minister’s special packages.
