U.S. bids to allay Japan beef row

US - American agriculture officials will discuss Japan's latest ban on American beef during a visit next week, a U.S. Embassy official has said, after a U.S. beef shipment sparked mad cow fears and prompted Tokyo to again halt imports. The delegation, dispatched at the request of Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, will include several high-level U.S. Department of Agriculture officials, according to Jeffrey Hill, a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.
