Dairy farmers in our area, have been drying up over the last few years.

Dwight Swope has been working with dairy cows all his life and during that time he's seen a lot of his friends' lose their farms.

"We do everything we can for efficiency but we cannot compete with these farms milking thousands of cows," says Swope.

He says there just isn't the same money in small dairy farms that there used to be.

"Back in the 70's we were getting paid almost the same for our farm milk that we have been paid in the last 2 1/2 years our impute cost has tripled," says Swope.

Many have kept afloat because they diversified their business.
