Boswell says Congress needs to ensure the process is quick and efficient. And as lawmakers work to write a new farm bill, he says the subcommittee will consider different proposals to change the Federal Milk Marketing Order system, and perhaps even create a commission to look at ways to streamline the system.

The Federal Milk Marketing Orders are designed to ensure milk reaches consumers at a fair price and in a time sensitive fashion. Periodically, the Ag Committee reviews the order rulemaking procedures to make sure they are keeping up with technology, new product development and dairy production.
