British Beef Back On Sale

UK - Cumbria farmers have welcomed the lifting of the 10-year ban on British beef exports. The embargo is set to be lifted next month after a committee of European vets ruled BSE has dropped to safe levels in British cattle. Trevor Wilson, of Low Bankside Farm, Cartmel, said: “It’s the highest quality and the safest beef in Europe.” Alistair Mackintosh, who has a 200-strong beef herd at Ravenglass, said: “It’s excellent news. “It shows how resilient Cumbrian farmers have been over the past few years when they have endured BSE and foot-and-mouth.
