The new agreement to supply the majority of Co-operative stores across England and Wales will commence from August 2007, when DFB’s current supply arrangement was due to end.

Commenting on the announcement, Andrew Cooksey, Chief Executive of Dairy Farmers of Britain, said:

“The fact that we have secured a new contract for such a major customer is great news for Dairy Farmers of Britain and our members. This demonstrates the strength and flexibility of our overall offering and our professional approach in building a long-term sustainable relationship, together with CRTG’s commitment to directly supporting British farmers through a cooperative partnership.”

“This new contract consolidates our position as we deliver our strategy to bring sustainable returns to our farmers for the long term.”

David Messom, Director of Trading at CRTG, said:

“We are delighted that DFB is continuing to supply us with the majority of our milk as co-operative values are core to both of our businesses, and continuity with key suppliers is an important part of our buying philosophy. Dairy Farmers of Britain consistently delivers excellent customer service and by continuing this partnership we can be confident that our customers will get the same high quality milk from a sustainable co-operative supply chain.”

“Going forward we will progress some new initiatives with DFB with the specific objective of improving returns to their farmers.”
