The Enterprise Development Group has unveiled plans to build more than 10 dams, expand the dairy herd by 50,000 head and construct a milk processing plant.

Local dairy farmer John Williams says the plan aims to capitalise on the region's high rainfall to produce grass-fed milk.

"Dorset needs it, we need it for the future of the community and Tasmania," he said.
