Veneman vows continued efforts for safety

SEATTLE - Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman grew up on a family farm in California's Central Valley. From 1995 to 1999, she served as secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture in the administration of Gov. Pete Wilson, managing farming programs and services for the nation's largest agricultural producing state. President Bush appointed her agriculture secretary in 2001.
