Dairy Farmers Want Water Rights

WYOMING - Eastern Idaho dairy farmers are working on a deal to ensure that they won't be left dry by a pending State Supreme Court water rights decision.

The court could decide in the next few months to ban junior water rights holders from pumping water from the ground, and that would include most farmers.

If the dairy farmers' agreement with senior water rights holders is approved, they will have the water they need to keep at least half the state's dairy farms operating, even when supplies run low.
