BSE case in BC not expected to have big impact

CANADA - The discovery of a case of mad cow disease in B.C. will have no impact on Okanagan and Similkameen ranchers, say industry leaders. “I don’t think it’s going to make any difference ...” said Lynn Kusler, a retired cattle rancher and manager of the Okanagan Falls B.C. Livestock Producers Co-op. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed Monday that a six-year-old dairy cow from Chilliwack was infected with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) or mad cow disease. The CFIA is continuing to investigate the cause of the infection.
