Despite mad cow scare, beef sales remain strong

CA - The recent discovery of mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), in a Washington dairy cow set off a nationwide surge of concern. However, in most Bay Area restaurants, beef remains one of the most popular items on the menu.
