US extends search for BSE-infected cattle

The US investigation into mad cow disease has widened into the state of Oregon in a bid to locate the herd mates of an infected animal.
Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman said the process, begun after a cow in neighbouring Washington state was found to have bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), should take weeks rather than months.
