Outlook bleak as cattle prices plunge; producers pressured to sell inventory

CALGARY - Cattle prices are plunging again as feedlot operators sell off thousands of animals in a market worried that the future will only get worse as the mad cow crisis drags through its ninth month.
"Our industry is in a state of collapse," said Rick Paskal, who has sold 10,000 cattle since mid-January after his bank told him to dramatically improve his debt ratio.
