New UC Davis test could find mad-cow agent in animal feed

Researchers at University of California Davis on Monday unveiled a new test that could detect tiny amounts of animal protein in feed for livestock. They say the test could help keep deformed proteins, such as those that cause mad-cow disease, out of the food supply, and could be commercially available late this year.
