West Coast Dairy Farmers chair Katie Milne says they have had to battle with water-logged pastures as well as serious flooding in some areas last week.

Milk production has dropped after what had been an excellent start to the season.

Tararua production also down
Heavy rain in the lower North Island over the weekend compounded a loss of production for dairy farmers in the Tararua district.

The region's Dairy Farmers chairman, Alan Billington, says a lack of sunshine and more spring rain than usual means that pastures lack essential clover.
